		<OPPONENT NAME="Don Bosco Prep" DATE="5/24/2002" MAIN="Vernon scored its biggest win of the season in its home finale against Don Bosco Prep.  Vernon, who dropped the first game 15-13, rallied to take the next two 15-13, 15-9 to improve its record to 7-15.  JV was unable to defeat the Ironmen, losing in 2 to make their record 12-9." SUB="Vernon's seniors picked the right match to have career games, getting 11 pts., 16 kills, and 15 digs from senior captain Matt Sorensen.  Kostas Pulopulo was equally effective, scoring 2 aces, 8 pts., 18 kills, and 21 digs, while outside hitters Alex Lambrinides (4 pts., 8 digs) and Gary Lukacs (9 pts., 7 digs) combined for 15 kills.  Setter Sherif Fahmy (5 pts., 2 aces, 4 digs, 3 kills) put up a school record 47 assists, while freshman Chris Pomante added 5 pts., 5 digs, and 4 blocks." JV lost their match as well, to make their records 6-15 and 12-8." Sherif Fahmy (3 pts., 1 kill, 2 blocks, 3 digs) followed with 35 assists, with Kostas Pulopulo (4 pts., 2 aces, 18 digs) as the primary benefactor, getting 15 kills. 		<OPPONENT NAME="Livingston Tournament" DATE="4/13/2002" MAIN="The Vernon varsity volleyball played some of its finest volleyball to date at the Livingston Invitational Tournament.  The Vikes started slow and got hot at the end to finish with a 3-5 ledger, good for a 3rd place pool finish." SUB="Vernon's day started with a 7-15, 10-15 loss to a balanced Livingston team, then came back to split with Passaic, 9-15, 15-5.  Vernon then swept Dickinson, 15-12, 15-11, and with a legitimate shot at making the playoffs, played its best match of the day against Southern Regional.  Although the Vikes lost 11-15, 14-16, it was arguably one of the best matches of the tournament.  Some of the leaders for the Vikes included: Kostas Pulopulo (all-tournament selection, 22 kills, 19 digs, 2 aces), Randy Bucsko (12 kills), Sherif Fahmy (10 pts., 44 assists), and Mike Frangipane (17 pts., 4 aces, 12 digs)" NEXT="Vernon will start the week off with a trip to Hackensack on Monday .
